Im looking to buy a JTE Sprint Ultra hat but local tack shop doesnt do that make to try, i'm a 58 in Charles Owen but 56 in Champion.....does anyone know if the Just Togs hats come up big or small in sizes?! I'm wondering whether to take pot luck, split the difference & go for a 57!!!

i had a Just Togs hat a few years ago and found it was a different shape to charles owen- this may have changed, but id really advise you check the fit!

You need to go and have it properly fitted. Hats come up all differently and a hat that doesn't fit is no good at all and in fact can be quite dangerous.

As you already know it's vital to get it fitted properly - I don't think it's necessarily that the sizes vary, ie the circumference can be the same but the shapes are different. I have a very narrow but long head and I know I can't wear a Gatehouse or a Champion but the Charles Owen are a better fit than any others (bar getting one made for me, maybe when I win the lottery!). Oh and they all look me look like I've got a mushroom head :( The Ayr8 is the best of a bad bunch aesthetically and fits well too (no use for xc though).

It's difficult when local tack shops only sell a couple of makes and you end up trawling around the region to compare them all.....

I'd say more than quite dangerous!! Sorry, I know a hat should fit correctly, I only want to know if a certain make comes up big or small compared to others :)

I was trying to be polite! If you know this then why not go and get it properly fitted rather than going for "pot luck"????

Agree with MCTN - Troxels are too shallow full stop and I can't get into round hats but if I did try to then I know I'd end up in much larger sizes than in a long oval which is the same shape as my head. I fit the same size in hats that fit me well :).
