Anyone got one of these? looking for a 4x4 and considering one of these - look cheap and with good fuel consumption and I only need to tow 1 horse. Would appreciate anyones experience, good or bad.
Cheers

Mine was fab never had a problem towing with it and never got stuck in bad weather! As far as fuel consumption goes though I wouldnt say good, that would be its big downfall sorry

I had two. Both were pants.

My machanic once phoned up Vauxhall to ask about a problem with my car and the guys response was that the problem was that I had a Frontera! lol

Keep em coming :)
Bakedbean, why rubbish?
They seem slightly cheaper than the comparebles and I'm a suspicious person....

for the money they are they are fine and they do the job, they arent comparable to a landrover or other similars purely because vauxhall dont 'do' 4x4's, therefore the price reflects this. 4x4 comparable the fuel consumption isnt bad on them at all. It depends what you can afford, if you can afford better buy better if you cant a good (and you have to be careful on the model you buy) frontera will do the job. I don't know about the particular ssangyong you posted about but in general, buy a ssangyong any day of the week, they are cheaper because they arent a big name but their build quality is really really good.

I had one for years - long wheel based version and it never put a foot wrong. Expensive on tires tho . Towed fine (rice beaufort double)

Blitz

Step-daughter has one, she has spent QUITE a few hundred quid on keeping hers on the road, probably pushing a couple of 1000 to be honest...!

If it's not one thing, it's another.....

What about a Vauxhall Monterey instead? It is basically a re-badged Isuzu Trooper but as it has a Vauxhall badge they are cheaper than Troopers.
I have one and love it.

i had 2 first one 2.8TD was fine for towing but i didnt tow far the 2nd one was only 2.2td and was better on fuel never towed with it though (got a lorry by then) i liked them but prefer my freelander much better:cool:

Had 3, the 2.4 petrol was dreadful on fuel and supsension was leaf sprung so waloooooooway, 2.8 diesel was better on fuel but noisy like tractor and 0 to 60 took about a week, 2.5 Diesel was good allr ound but gearbox went at about 55,000 miles, it did pull my trailer with a large cob and my ginger pony uphill, groaned a bit but managed.

Due to money and less regular towing, plus the OH struggles to drive the Terrano, (which I love), as a compromise I am thinking of going back to one, I will probably look at the 2.2 16valve Diesel, if you get one please let me know how it goes.
