I could do with a little input please.

Currently I have an old Izusu Bighorn (jap import = Trooper) that I use to tow a bateson deauville. Due to a house move it was becoming increasingly expensive to use the trooper as my every day car so I bought a little run about.

I'm just wondering if there is a more economical option, running two cars is expensive (although cheaper than just running the trooper everyday!)

Trooper manages about 21mpg when not towing. So I suppose I'm looking for something that does closer to 30mpg
On average I do 300 miles per week. Trailer is a bateson deauville. Horse is 16hh approx warmblood cross, not weighed her but I would guess around 550kg ish. Would also like to be able to take friends horse (not a requirement but would be nice) similar build, although I know this will probably make this whole exercise pointless.

So is there a vehicle out there that will not cost me the earth for the daily commute that is capable of towing the above?
