Velvet on showing tweed or not?

Hello!

Just wondered your thoughts on velvet trims and collar on tweed jackets or whether it's best to be plain? Mainly for riding horse/youngstock class and part bred M&M classes. I know, I think, either is acceptable, but like with all things showing I also know there are secret hidden preferences! Thinking of county level...

Totally personal choice on partbreds and riding horses you will see both even at the highest level

Either for those classes I have velvet (for pure bred native) while our coloured cob has plain.

I'm confused now, but think I'm leaning more towards non velvet. I'm not a teenager anymore but wish I still was!

Either, mine has velvet collars and I've never even thought about it! A lot of people have velvet collars, totally normal & fine for showing.

Honestly you can wear either, pick the jacket you like best regardless of collar.

Mine has a velvet collar only. To match the tweed- it's a green tweeds with mustard and burgundy over check - the collar is green velvet. Looks lovely. I've shown and been placed as county level in it and at the NPS summer showing champs. Never had any issues.

The jackets do look smart with the tweed, but showing does have hidden preferences, I wish someone would write a book on it haha

I personally like velvet on tweeds!
Except maybe in cob classes or the big hunter classes
