I'm organising a clinic / demo for someone within 40 miles of Carlisle, Cumbria.

Can anyone offer any advice please.
Blackdyke?
Greenlands?
Newton Rigg?
Inglewood?

I want somewhere easy to find.
Does it matter whether it has a cafe, or is a burger van alright?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Ashgrove,

I live about 20 mins away from Greenlands and Blackdyke and about 30 mins away from the other two that you suggested. What kind of demo is it and are the public to be invited?

Greenlands has good access from the motorway and tends to hold all the big events round here. They have a cafe upstairs too. Blackdyke has good facilities too and there is often a burger van there.

Newton Rigg is a big place with plenty parking but Inlgewood is a much smaller place (often holds trailblazers) but again with plenty parking. Could be a bit more difficult to find though.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for that cblover, I'm also about 20 mins away from Blackdyke, but I don't compete so don't really know what it's like there. What is the seating arrangement at Blackdyke like? I've been to Greenlands and they have loads of seating.

The clinic / demo will be open to the public so I need somewhere with a decent amount of seating.

Blackdyke has a fair number of seats plus if you look at their website you will see they can also seat in the arena if need be. They have seats on one level at the short end of the arena and an upstairs heated viewing area also tiered seats down one side of an arena. The facilities are excellent and it is all maintained to high standard. It may prove very hard to book though as they are pretty busy all the time.

Greenlands you obviously know and both it and Blackdyke are easily accessible from motorway.

Is it indoor arena you are after? I believe Nord Vue at Hesket has an Olympic sized outdoor arena - never been though. Similarly not been to the other 2 you mention.

There is also an indoor school at Shawstown about 7 miles from Longtown it is easy enough to find but further off main roads than the other 2.

I think a burger van would be fine. What sort of clinic are you organising?

Yep thats right Ashgrve!

She's called Mandy Wilson, Debbie Johnston's sister who has Stonerigg at Great Orton!

Shawstown is quite remote and in this weather (not sure when you want it for) it would be just about impossible to get there!
