Been looking around at the NS snaffles and keep seeing a nice loose ring lozenge verbindend snaffle. Looks like a nice bit but what is it suitable for. Can see it is dressage legal, does it help promote outline ???
Have a look here--http://www.neueschulebits.com/acatalog/Enlightened%20Bitting.pdf
I know it is a long document but it explains their bits really well. If you want to skip straight to the verbindend then just search the documewnt for it. (it's on page 20)
It is dressage legal btw. Maggie has one for flat work and it's really helped get her off her forehand and stop fixing. The metal is lovely to and warms up really quickly so ideal for horses who do not really like metal in their mouths!!
It was used to help lift him off his forehand & shoulder. He goes lovely in it. Very light in the hand now & have a lovely outline as he now has the muscle etc to carry himself.
Good bit!
I have one too - very good bit - not using it at the moment as it is not strong enough - been 7 months with no hacking so horsey a little to excited to be back out again
I've just got one on trial from shop4bits.com. Rode my mare in it last night, bit early to say if it's going to work for us long term but I did feel that she was taking a more even and forward contact with it which I've struggled slightly with in our normal french link. I've also got the team up bit to try which isn't as curved on the mouthpiece.
Must say I'm very impressed with the service from shop4bits (I've no relationship with them whatso ever, I just googled neue Schule bits and they came up in the list). They offer a 30 day trial whereby you can pay a small deposit via their website and they post the bit to you to try, if you like it they will then debit the remainder of the payment for it, if not you can return it by recorded post. I ordered my bits at 2pm on Monday and they were waiting for me last night when I got to the yard.
Suits my slightly demanding mare (!) and is helping lift her off the forehand. It worked for this at speed, when she tends to lean, so not just good for schooling issues. She showjumps nicely in it too.
