I'm moving yards this week and I'm normally on straw but the new yard uses shavings so I had to buy them in myself (totally clueless). The woman who owns the yard buys her shavings in at £5.50 a bag, with a minimum of 30 bags. I didn't want to pay that much because I didn't know what the quality of shavings where like.

I came across Verdo wood pellets, which 24 x 10KG bags came to about £86. I bought these as I'm moving yards on thursday and started to panic lol. I'm hoping that these are okay. Has anyone had experience with these?
If so how long do they seem to last you? What are they like? etc :)

Also, if anyone else uses wood pellets, do you prefer them to shavings and where do you order yours from?

Thank you in advance! :D

Hi, read my post on liverpool wood pellets, they are cheaper and a lot of people use them. The more you buy at a time the cheaper they are but they are 15kg bags so more in a bag, they work out at £3.10 per bag if you buy a tonne (67 bags) of the economy and £3.36 a bag for the premium although people have said they dont see any difference between the two. This price includes delivery and VAT!

I use verdo wood pellets but we buy them in 16kg bags and pay £38.28 for 10 bags or £220.84 for a tonne. I really like them. I only need 1 bag per week for each stable but I used 10 bags to start my bed which gave quite a deep bed. Stables are a lot quicker to muck out and a lot drier one of mine is really wet and his stable has been a lot drier using the wood pellets so I would recommend them.

Hi
We buy them form Champfleurie Estates Ltd in Linlithgow, we collect ours but i think they only do local delivery. Have you tried verdorenewables.co.uk they supply 975kg delivered for £270.

Hiya,

We supply Verdo wood pellets and I would just advise that you check that the pellets you are getting from Champfleurie Estates are 6mm pellets and not 8mm.

The 8mm are not as good as the 6mm and Verdo no longer produce them but some suppliers may still have stock, we do have some customers who like the 8mm pellets so you may be ok with them.

Hi, I haven't ordered from them as of yet. But I have used the Verdo Pellets to set up my horses stable ready for the move. I love them! So easy to do. Dying to muck out tomorrow (I'll be regretting I said that).

I'm just hoping it's not going to be too expensive to stay on them!
