For Christmas I got given a pair, I have tried them on my horse and they fit and look lovely. The only thing I am questioning is the pinch effect going to be ridiculous? My horse is quite good at going clear but can rub a pole at the odd time now and then. I can't return the boots and would rather not sell them so do you think they will be alright? My horse did not show any signs of annoyance at them when I tried them on and I would only use them at shows, do you think they will be OK? I just don't want them to hurt his legs. Sorry if this is a bit of a stupid question

They won't hurt him but don't put them on for the first time at a show. Know the effect they have on him and how to get the right tension. Some horses will lose their jump in front if you get them going too high behind so you might need to experiment a little to get the best effect for your horse.

I will try him in them the next time I'm up at the yard jumping. Worse comes to worse I will sell them and then use the money to get a normal pair i guess.

Performance enhancing hind boots are not something that should be used without guidance and someone who knows the horse and how to use the boots correctly helping decide when, where and how tight the should be. I personally don't feel any horse jumping small classes should wear them and absolutely not young horses but they are unnecessary in small classes.
You have to be very honest with yourself and evaluate if the rubs are down to you or the horse making a mistake. You also need to be very accurate in your riding to a fence while wearing the boots. If you miss and horse has extra exaggerated jump because
Of the miss and the boots you can end up scaring your horse, having a fall, destroying the horses confidence and any other amount of undesirable outcomes.

I think I'm just going to sell them as I don't really want to risk hurting my horse and sometimes we do end up in a sticky situation. I'd rather be safe than sorry, so if anyone wants them I'm selling them.
