Very Cute Tiny Pony needs expensive op

Is it really fair to put it through potentially long winded and painful surgery? Cute it may be, but it's still a horse, a flight animal. I hate to say it, but I feel there may be kinder options....

Just went on the link susannaF posted, i then followed another link to horsie heaven , it shows lots of these ponies who now rip most seem to have lived very short lives. Surely this says something about breeding them as small as possible, selective breeding to get the tiniest pony they can, personally i think its terrible as bad as the selective breeding of pugs and bulldogs to get the sqashed faces and then the animal faces the large possibility of a lifetime of respiratory problems and finding it difficult to breath - disgusting. Poor little baby.

If owners are not willing/able to pay for their animals vet fees then they should not have them or breed a strain particularly inclined to need vet treatment due to genetic issues!

ditto this
if the breeder wants to put it through surgery, ( personally I think PTS is the kinder option ) then its their responsibility.

Kx

I've got a 6 week old foal that has foot problems. If surgery is possible would everyone like to donate. I can post pics to make him look very cute and vulnerable if that will help with your decision

wanders off to create cute poorly foal paypal account.........................

Ok, donate. encourage inbreeding and irresponsible ownership and breeding. this little mite should have been pts a birth. It is not cute or cheeky it is seriously disabled with long term/ life threatening problems. This poor litle chap didn't ask to be a record attempt and why should the owner profit from his suffering. I hope someone sees sense and lets him run free in the big green pasture!

The only op the poor little sod needs is PTS, followed by a stiff talking to for it's owners and vets about ethics.

Its appalling - as bad a form of animal cruelty as one can possibly imagine. No doubt she will receive donations from people who do not understand the agony they are wanting to put this poor deformed foal through. I think she should be prosecuted! I am staggered that any vet would agree to do this.

OR...

inbred premature foal with dwarfism needs put to sleep

Obviously just my opinion but where do you draw the line? Ponies that have been interbred with other tiny ponies resulting in a foal with dwarfism???
Can they honestly say that
a) this is natural?
or
b) they have bred responsibly and produced a healthy animal with herd and flight instincts
