After Sat's wonderful behaviour at the Trec training, went SJ this morning. Mays fieldmate also came and did the same classes - bad start, as soon as May knew she was there she went nuts, could'tn leave her in the horsebox, so struggled to tack her up - they had parked roudn the other side, but May had heard her neigh!
Got in and ready to warm up, but she would'nt leave her fieldmate to go and jump a fence! Really struggled with some awful behaviour, got her in the ring for beginners class and had two stops - one my fault, she was busy looking at another fence and I did'nt manage to turn in time, and the last fence was right at the exit gate! She did'nt stop at the fence, she stopped at the gate!!
Next Class, went in calm and determined, got a really good line and good stride to fence 6 (the one by the exit gate) and Madam slammed on, as I landed on her neck she reared up! Did'nt even bring her round to it again, gave her one hard smack, one halt to canter stride and she popped it, and jumped the rest fine. Really annoyed as it was just bad behaviour.
Took her home, got to the yard and we had another shaky stamping episode while I unloaded her, pranced back across the yard - don't know why! So chucked her out and left her - put a notice on our stable block white board - 'orange Madam (May) free to good home'
Am going to have to speak to the vet about getting her on regumate, her fieldmates owner and I do quite a lot of the same shows, and there is no way I can go through that again, she was shaking and piaffing while I was trying to get on just cos the other mare had gone out of sight, then as soon as they stood together, she was lovely!
Just bought a chocolate orange to console myself
