Very drooly, suddenly with no other symptoms... help!!

I don't normally post in here, but I'm wondering if anyone can help!!
My 9yo black lab bitch is healthy and happy in herself, but when I got home tonight she was very drooly. She isn't normally slobbery except when you're eating an apple

It's pools of water, like she's taken a drink and not swallowed it, not stringy or smelly, or anything. I cleaned her teeth as normal and she was happily letting me do that, and was happy for me to open her mouth and have a look - there's nothing stuck in her mouth.
She isn't coughing, or trying to be sick or rubbing at her mouth...
She hasn't drunk any more or less than normal over the day.
We took her temp and it's normal.

I've run out of ideas now, and I'm getting sick of mopping up after her!

any help/ideas would be wonderful.

I'd pop her to the vets to be on the safe side, make sure she takes plenty of water to avoid dehydration...is your heating whacked up or anything?

heating? in my house? no, and she lies in the conservatory if she's too hot.

am thinking vets too. so I'm preparing for a very grumpy dog....

Hi there,

My greyhound does this in really scary situations...but because he is a big gaylord, lying in the car even looking at large crowds out of the window does this to him. I could never dream of taking him down the highstreet ha! His drool is very very clear, non smelly and constantly flowing in these extreme cases of fright

she is quite an anxious dog, but I can't think of anything that could have happened today to start this. and she doesn't normally drool in scary situations...

I had a dog do this once...it had licked a toad! Any chance shes done this? If not, another vote for a call to the vet!

possible, but she'd probably be scared of it!

Could she have something stuck in her mouth, maybe a twig wedged across the roof of her mouth or similar?

if you use cribbox she might have licked it, it causes drooling in dogs

When we had a dog with bloat one of the symptoms was excess drooling. He was also trying to be sick so hopefully not this but I too would check with the vet. Another possibility is a stick or something stuck in the roof of her mouth. Hope you find the cause.
