Yep best left to soak and rinsed gently.

OP her GG is very tight to her elbows, obviously I'll have to take your word for it about how far the elbows are from her ribcage, it's just so common that elbows are tight (and postural work, working especially on the thoracic sling can improve this). I would wait if you can until you have your new saddle as what work with, and is the right length for, the current saddle may be completely wrong for the new one.
If I can find a saddle to fit....Its proving impossible. :( This shows her elbow room better maybe.candy.jpg

Don’t beat yourself up too much OP. Chestnuts can be particularly sensitive (I had one similar).

I would try a good quality sheepskin but you might find a bit of trail and error until you find an option that’s just right.

I've had sheepskin girth sleeves rub really badly. It doesn't take long for the skin bit to get really stiff and crusty. I use a wintec chafeless girth with elastic in the centre.

When you were saying hoop tree design on a post above OP I was going to suggest Ideal - I have an old one here which came off a Highland.

But the photo you've posted looks to have quite decent withers and even at his fittest the Highland wasn't that defined, which I think is why they are generally used for that stamp of native.

What brands have you looked at?

All the saddlers I’ve ever had say never use a girth with elastic one end only. Either use one with elastic both ends or none at all.

We have a Stubben cord girth which is fab…also professional choice ventec girth on our chunky Welsh. Both fantastic girths x

She was in a Collgiete Nobility, then I tried a Fairfax mono which made her start stopping, and now shes in a friends Bates Elevation which I quite like but saddler says not suitable.
He suggested old GFS or Pessoa

Black country do a freedom tree which is similar to a hoop tree, I tried to find a second hand one and never did.

Been there done that OP! it happens, don't beat your self up over it.

On a slight off topic, I'm about to buy a new girth and had heard so many great reviews on the Pro choice Ventech- but this thread makes me think is neoprene really all that comfortable and won't it rub?
I had a Ventech competition girth (the one with neoprene velcroed on). One of the buckle pins broke. I reported it to the maker and they said that it was my fault for not replacing my girth every three years. I wouldn't buy from them again - I've got leather girths that are many years old and never had a buckle break. I use the same type of girth but not from them - the one I have is from Old Mill saddlery. Not had an issue with rubbing or anything with either horse it's been used on.
