Hi, I have just come back from the vet with my Parson JRT. She was there getting scanned to confirm she was in pup (I knew she was but thought it best to have her checked). Hubby and I thought she would have 2-3, and the Vet says she has def 6, maybe 8!!! She could not give an exact number as they were moving around. I was really panicing, but the vet explained it can be easier to have lots of smaller ones rather than one or two very large pups. I just really hope she manages ok. Bless her, she is going to be massive by the time she has them. Going for another scan in two weeks to see how they are doing, as I say, excited and scared!! Anyone had simaler litters with small dog, how did they (and you) cope? Our other dogs are all Collies/Labs, so we expected large litters, but she just seems so small! Thanks

My bitch had pups last yr and she is a lab, she had 8 healthy pups, and we kept 2 of them, she is a very lightweight lab, and managed fine, and got her figure back in a week. Although her mother has had a few litters and one of them was 11 pups, I think 2 died and one she led on and squashed. Good luck anyway, my bitch didnt like the motherhood thing and was only keen for the first 24hrs, hard work, when they dont wanna be a stay at home mum Ha!!!
