It's taken a while, but I finally paid the bank transfer and I can finally reveal our new baby.........what do you think of her?

Nope - she's by Jumbo out of a Rock King mare with grand dam by Ben Faerie. We're a little in awe of her............

I was just going to say it was the Jumbo baby that was at Plumpton futurity this year as I a) saw her in the ring and b)recognised the school LOL

Congrats!

Wouldn't she be a bit young to start messing around with that? ( I'm presuming she was a foal last year). It's so expensive a friend looked into it and she was looking at around £6000. She is a lovely foal but you have to be realistic esp in today's market, at the end of the day she is unproven.

Could be worth a gamble though. Look at the Swedes. Over the course of 15 years with their matron mare scheme the Swedish Warmblood studbook shot from outside the top 25 to inside the top 10 in the showjumping rankings

I agree. It's quite common practice on the continent to actually put them in foal at 2 according to my Swedish vet. ET is definitely more acceptable to me than having her in foal at such a young age. She will be unproven, but a lot of continental breeders never prove their mares in competition, and she has the pedigree to mean that we would be unlikely to produce rubbish. We are at the investigating stage at the moment, but I can't see a problem with it yet.

Your filly is a real cracker and very many congratulations on buying into such a prolific MOTHERLINE.

Your filly is out out of Cornish Queen I believe? I have her full sister at the moment, very kindly loaned to me by Bridget Parker who bred her and Cornish Queen amongst many others. I bred a filly out of Cornish Gem last year by selle francais stallion called Desir du Chateau which when graded was awarded the Elite score as an Eventer of 9.21 and finished the series as the Highest Graded Event Foal in 2009. Here's a photo of her at home -

If you're considering an ET foal from your girl, I would heartily recommend Desir du Chateau as we're delighted with what we've got by him out of a very close family member to yours. Desir is 68% TB and Anglo-arab so has plenty of 'blood' and is by the legendary stallion Quidam de Revel out of one of the best motherlines in France. If you'd like to know more about him, his webpage is-

Good luck with your girl - you've got a real gem there.
