My workplace has 10 acres of grazing which is unused at the moment. I tentivly asked the chief executive if I could graze a horse on it.

His answer was would I like him to place a few stables, paddocks and an arena there! He wants me to come up with a full business plan about renting the space by Tuesday. Do any of you know any good stabling and arena companies? Obviously, being a large company this is a minor side venture so it needs to be cost effective. Any reccomendations would be greatly recieved!

No suggestions but i agree, so exciting! good luck!!

How exciting, I think if it is near good hacking or a comp. venue you could be on a winner ,or do horse camp with other activities and invited instructors.GOOD LUCK .Keep us informed

Lots of hacking and plenty of shows near here. Our neighbors are private polo yards so we're in the middle of the countryside. Have a farmer to supply hay behind us who rent his land from us

I just can't believe he came out with it though! Totally gobsmacked!

Thing is, it HAS to be good quality (to find in with the country house) but inexpensive as I know that if I pitch something expensive he'll just stop the whole thing. I'm thinking 4 stables atm. Plus we have a full maintenence team to build the foundations and stables themselves. Just need the bits and pieces.

Yep, rent the other three stables either to individuals or ideally a riding instructor with horses. Each livery would have their own paddock, stable and lorry parking and it'd probably be about £20 a week.

Maintenece team are actually really excited for some reason. Speaking about grooming areas, painting the post and rails, building jumps, etc. I think it gives them a chance to use lots of tools, diggers and tractors

If he wants a business plan then wouldn't it be better to run courses and 2/3 day clincs so the people could stay at the hotel maybe husband to play golf wife to attend clinic. You could charge a lot if you got a good instructor. diy livery isn't much of a business plan.Aim to impress him.

Agree with Carthorse, I would prehaps aim to show that the equine off shoot will increase revenue in other areas, produce additional income for the hotel and also widen the possible market to include guests at shows. Could you keep a paddock spare for guests and leave lorry space so you could advertise as a horse friendly hotel?
