Well, after 3 weeks (which I know is not long in terms of how bad it can be, and is for some people on here :( ) of not being able to ride due to horse's bad back, then lameness (and box rest/restricted turnout..) then lack of a saddle which fitted, I got a new (well, second hand!) saddle fitted today by a Master Saddler.
It's an older Albion K2 and is a gorgeous chestnutty dark brown, I love it :D I also got brand new stirrup leathers and irons, and a lovely leather girth!! I am sooo grateful to my mum, and feel very lucky! Then again she is still pleased about my GCSE results earlier this so it wasn't entirely random and out of the blue  :D but still!
C was very happy to be ridden again (though weve both been enjoying loose schooling and jumping whilst without a saddle  ) and showed his exuberance by having a bucking fit on the way up to the arena, and a few excited squeals to the horse in the paddock next to us  Had to assure saddler that it was not pain related (no ears back or discomfort!) just him being a fool :D Settled down after a few mins and was very good considering it was raining cats n dogs. :p
Saddler was fab and spent ages ensuring saddle was correctly flocked to compensate for C's slightly less built up right side (ex racer).

So excited about heading round the tracks on my boy tomorrow!! :D
What's everyone else got planned for their Bank hols with their horses?

Yay, sounds like you've had a great day! Lucky, I love getting new tack :)

I'm having a quiet w/e this bank holiday with my horse, we've been out quite a bit in the lorry recently so it's nice to have a break! Jumped this morn and schooling tomorrow.

Have fun enjoying your horse and lovely new saddle! :D :)

Very jelous about new saddle! :p Nice to hear your getting on well with your boy. :)
I dont D will be up to much, he's pretty dead today, maybe some gentle hacking on monday, bless him! ;) x

firewell- So do I..and rugs..and boots.. :o Burghley next weekend, I have such a massive list of stuff I want to buy! Sadly my bank balance is not so massive :p
I would like to say I'll be sensibly schooling tomorrow, but I know that ain't going to happen  YO built a couple of new XC jumps while C's been out of action, and they are calling to me! :o

horsecrazy25- I'm sooo looking forward to it :D :D Good luck for your show, post pics! :)

Puppy- Aww thanks :o We really haven't achieved much of what I wanted to this summer, competitively (wanted to have done lots of SJing and XC, at least a few unaff ODEs with the hope of starting BE80 this autumn or next year..hardly any of which has happened, sadly, due to saddle etc.) but I am totally in love with him!
Am looking forward to a winter of SJing (maybe some BS on a ticket..?) and dressage  as our flatwork has improved drastically to the point that I am actually starting to enjoy it  :D
Sooo I think there'll be no shortage of posts and pics from me and C monster  (in fact, I am just uploading some of him loose schooling- don't think there is a single pic of him with more than one foot on the ground, he was a blur most of the time! :D

Dopey-Danone- Thanks :D Have a good hack. Can't wait to get out hacking and hit the stubble (with permission, of course  )

I'm always excited when i get a new saddle & can't wait to use it. I brought one on Wed & waiting for it's arrival now :D Glad to hear your boy's all up and running again too. Have a fab weekend with him!
.
Don't think i'll be up to much over bank holiday, going to Scope tomorrow (only to watch sadly) then probably spending the day at the yard on monday as no work :D

That's great news Mollya. My mum's ex racer was fitted with a K2 in a chesnut brown a couple of months ago. It's the only GP that gave his shoulders decent clearance, and he is so much better in it. Really comfy saddle. Onwards & upwards for both of you after a rotten few weeks! :D
