My pony has a very itchy head!
He is 21yo Welsh c, turned out 24/7 with no access to a stable.
It started with a weepy eye, rubbed some of the fur off, but has escalated rather quickly in to him rubbing one side of his face raw and almost all the fur has gone.
He also has a smaller patch on his neck.
I’ve had the vet out, she gave him a steroid injection and steroid cream which I am applying daily then putting a snuggy hood on to stop him rubbing on the fence posts.
It’s finally starting to look better, but my question is, now the raw patches are gone, what works for stopping the itch and encouraging hair growth?
TIA

Hmm, it depends what's causing the itch. If it's an allergy the steroid injection should keep the itch away for a few months. I would ask your vet because it may not be an allergy. The vet would also be able to advise you if it is possible to prevent it from recurring.

As for hair growth, you could try massaging peppermint oil on the bald patches. I haven't used it but I've heard it helps.

Have you changed feed recently? Mine does this if she eats anything containing soya
Our grass is so good at the moment they aren’t having a ‘feed’ as such, just a handful of chaff (same he’s always had) to get any supplements in. He’s never reacted to feed before ?

It just neem oil. You can buy it yourself much cheaper.

You are factually incorrect ! I suggest that you check out the ingredients on the website. Whilst the Original Stinky does contain some neem oil the Non Stinky does not contain any neem oil at all. Neem oil on it's own is not recommended and is not as effective for calming irritated skin.

I found neem oil great for irritated skin on my pony with sweet itch.
