Very itchy Horse

Ruby was fully clipped about 3 weeks ago. Over the last week she has been very very itchy.

So I thought maybe I was over rugging. So I put a cooler one on, still she's itchy! She doesn't even feel warm

I feel sorry for her, at every opportunity she is trying to scratch.

Any ideas?

Less likely with clipped horse, but it could be lice.
Have you de-Louise's her to eliminate them?

I have heard before of clipping causing skin irritation so this could be happening. I think there may have been a thread on here about it before. Sorry, cannot remember what treatment was recommended but hopefully someone will come along who will.

One of mine gets really itchy once he's been clipped, i just give him a full bath with an aloe Vera shampoo after being clipped and hot cloth with nafs love the skin he's in after he's been ridden since doing this with him he's been perfect and not itchy at all

I'd ring the vet, could be any number of things.

I'd try a good hot clothing with a suitable wash before calling the vet. Some horses are sensitive to clipper oil and that can make them itchy.

It may be that there is only one itchy spot but that can often make them itch all over.

My mare is itchy too. But also has bumps like an allergic reaction. She had the same last winter. I think she allergic to her hi Fi so I've stopped feeding it in the hope they will go
