I'm over the moon so had to share it!

We live next door to the game keeper of the estate we live on. When we moved in she had some labs pups that were a couple of days old so we decided to have one.

Meanwhile, for the last 7 weeks I have been exercising her husbands hunters (he happens to be the whip of our local hunt) after a few years break from being in the saddle. Have loved every minute of it, and have been cubbing and planning on a season of hunting.

Anyway, this evening we picked the puppy up, paid and settled him in, only to get a knock at the door a couple of hours later - our lovely neighbour returning our money and telling me she couldn't accept because of all I've done for the horses for the last. 7 weeks.

Dumbstruck, and totally over the moon. Tried not to accept but she wouldn't have any of it!!! What can I do to show my appreciation? Good bottle of port?!

It's lovely to be appreciated, so as neighbours, you should have a great time together. They will enjoy seeing their pup growing up, and I'm sure you'd be happy to help out with their horses as and when needed. A bottle of Port is a lovely idea, or maybe a hamper made up of local produce?

Many many years ago I broke and schooled a pony for a local farmer. He bred working Springer Spaniels. When I finished schooling the pony he offered to pay me. I had enjoyed doing the pony so would not except any payment. He gave me a puppy and that was the first of many Springers.

I continued to work the pony all for the love of it. There are som nice people out there who appreciate others.

Bottle of port is enough and a continued good friendship between the two of you helping each other out im sure that is what she would like most in my opinion :)
