Hi, one of my fields has gotten very long, starting to seed etc. I have enquired re having it hayed but its cheaper for me to buy hay in than this option. It's never lush grass, never fertilised etc. I don't want to top it as its so long I think it will stop the grass underneath growing.
Is it safe to graze? I'm hoping a few days sunshine on it, will take out the sugars, am I right thinking once its gone to seed it's like hay?! I'm thinking the longer grass will be safer than shorter greener grass?
I have no friendly farmers with sheep/cattle etc, so not an option. Ideas/opinions.
