Today marks 7 years since we moved to beautiful Yorkshire.

For the first 3 years we had snow in November and December. The last 4 years we've not seen a flake until January.

This year is incredibly, weirdly mild. Feels more like Sepember. Been 14-16° most days, and around 8-10° at night.

Yesterday, Bo was being driven mad by midges getting stuck in his fluffy ear hair!

I don't love snow, but I don't like this in November. It's not right.

I was so worried as September was so wet (Clay soil) but the dry spell has reduced everything to "sticky", still feels very odd to be leaving the house without a coat, I need to wear waterproof trousers for dog walking but I come back boiling even after a short walk!

I'd like a few frosts to zap the worms, I'm sure we only had one or two last winter.

It's mental isnt it? Changed the duvet to winter one at end of Sept, both of us regularly too warm overnight now. Ponies sweating outside 🙄

Definitely weird, third clip today for horse that was sweating after a 40 min walk hack.

Poo picking the winter field - which is not normally possible but may as well as I can do it in trainers !

Fly spray still in regular use

I too thought we were in for a terrible winter when it went grim in early Sept - we appear to be having the missing summer now. It is nicer to ride now than it was most of August.

No wind is also odd for us

I'm loving it - no mud, no disgusting rain for weeks on end, long may it continue, judging by my veg patch this year is a couple of months behind.

Apart from the fact it is endlessly grey (which is depressing) and that these temps in Nov are highly unusual, I am enjoying it. The grass is still growing well, the horses are more sensible and I am hoping it will make winter feel that little bit shorter. The closer we get to Christmas with it like this, the better.
Not in Northumberland where we’ve had lovely sunny days mostly.

Went out this morning no coat but wore a sweatshirt type top. Far far too hot!!!

I hope we don’t pay for it later….

In East Yorkshire here - mild and dry so far (if rather grey for the last few days). The weather is such that if it wasn't for the fireworks that have been going on for the last week (and probably the rest of this week) we might have been able to keep the horses out 24/7 a little longer (Grrrr)! The mild, dry weather has made the transition to our winter routine a little easier though. On the down side - as a previous thread mentioned - the midges/flies are ravenous - and I seem to be absolutely delicious - Im getting eaten alive!

I'm honestly gutted the weather's been so mild - we had my 8 year old PTS mid October so that he went before the cold kicked in and it's been so mild it feels unfair that we could have had an extra month at least with him. Objectively I know it's better a week to early, but it's made a difficult time that much more gut-wrenching

It's not that warm here in the south east, my hands were freezing out on a hack today but although it's dry which is great, it's a permanent grey with mist that comes & goes but I'm grateful for no rain x

this time last year both girls were clipped and rugged, and i was bundled up in my equidry…today they’re both out naked, unclipped, and i’ve been swanning round the yard in a tshirt!

It's very grey here but I'm grateful there's no rain - my flooded fields are beginning to dry.

Tried to clip the microcob because she's so hot but she was sweating just standing there so now she looks very moth eaten.

I have full clipped, first weekend in November as always do. This year horse is sweating in more than 50 gram rug with fresh full clip. Most unusual! It is much milder, and I think he's a bit fatter than past years, or bulkier muscle wise in general, so maybe a bit warmer?

I agree, I am getting wind chill and cold hands hacking. And even cold hands poo picking. My freshly clipped horse though is too hot in more than 50gms of rug!

It is crazy weather for us up north. Calm, mild, dry and forecast to stay like this for over a week. It feels like September not November. (Other than being dark so early) It’s unheard of for our horses still to be out at night. I’m really enjoying poop scooping in my lightweight jacket and not having to ground the wheelbarrow from blowing away 😂 but I’m also concerned as to what is to come.

Yup, it's been 9 to 10 degrees here all day, gloomy again and feeling much more chilly than it is.

Ridiculously mild here in north Oxfordshire although very gloomy and rather damp. Have chaser clipped the working horses and they are still unrugged as they are too warm even with a 50g. Next week we are meant to get a lot more sun (haven't seen any for a few days now) and the temperature will drop a bit.
