I have very mixed emotions, the horse goes to a new home in a few days. It is a brilliant home, she will just be a very low level hack, she will have company, she will never be sold on, she will continue to receive the medical care she needs and if her health needs increase the new owners will do the right thing. The new owner is recommended by someone I trust implicitly and it is close enough to home for me to keep an eye on how she is doing. While I have no competitive aspirations I want to more than the horse is now capable of and will now have the potential to do that. I am however going to miss her dreadfully. I am however doing the right thing for both of us.
For better or worse I will be looking for a new friend later in the year, the month I had back riding her properly before it all went a bit wrong again showed me how much I love having and riding my own.
I have learnt a lot from having her in my life and have done my best by her and I am happy with the choices I have made for her.
