V pleased with the boy I ride.
He was getting a bit 'special' with jumping on the lunge. Teeny weeny cross poles but jumping it, spinning round after and coming back over it and trying to do the same again, cutting the circle VERY small to get to the jump faster...
Decided to give up with the lunge as he wasn't behaving like a raving loony and get on.
Had a few strides of nice trot and shoulder in (much better one way than the other but early days), nice controlled canter and a little jump.
To say I'm pleased is an understatement!
Only little jumps still but he didn't back off too much although the short striding trot reappeared coming into them... didn't stop, didn't touch them, the biggest we did yesterday was roughly 2'6 having done 3'+ ish on the lunge last week. Nice and steady into them, going a bit deep but backs off the bigger ones. Landing on the right canter lead, no bogging off up the field.
He was rather heavy on my hand, but I'd rather he were doing that atm than taking off farting and bucking! Hopefully have a school to work in soon and I'll be happier to give him his head more in an enclosed space rather than an open field!
No pics though, sorry! Carrot cake though!
