Pointless post really and very self induldgent but after some advice too:o

My rising 3 year old has been on box rest now for 3 weeks. Some of it was spent on restricted turnout (vets reccomenedation) until she decided she was in love with another horse, broke through the fencing and had a hooley.

After that, she stayed in her box.

Anyway, I've been a little worried about how to go about bringing her back into gentle work as have been taking it slowly anyway (age) and worried about the injury.

So today, a little unsure about how to go about it, I put a bridle with lunge line on and took her into the school and walked her in hand for 20 mins. She walked around like an angel and didn't put a foot wrong. Not bad for a baby who has been stuck in a box for a week. I couldnt have been more pleased with her.

I then got a bit bored and got some cones out to walk her in and out of.

How would you go about it? Is that ok for a first day? When should i introduce some trot work? Im sooooo worried about getting it wrong and everyone tells me something different.

I can't take her out in hand as we have a big festival going on in neighbouring fields and all the horses are a little sharp atm.

Sorry, i have waffled a bit, I hope it makes sense.

how long has she been out for? and what was the injury? Hard to say how much is ok without knowing the depth of the injury.
You must be proud as punch to get her back into it.

I think you are doing it right as she has not exploded, I think its down to the individual horse how the come back into it but as you taking it slow anyway then just carry on how you was. And you will know when she is ready for more.
