Feeling very proud - comparing photos of my exracer from last year when I bought him and recently.. He's a different horse! :)

This is when I first met him. Underweight, lacking muscle, dull scruffy coat, lameness issues and just seemed really depressed. He had been at this inner city yard for 9 years and hadn’t done much other than stand in a field. He lived out, rarely exercised and when he was it was just a trot around a paddock or walking up the main road and he only ever got hard feed (just a handful of nuts) after being ridden. I fell in love instantly and when I heard he was due to go off to a dealer’s yard the following week, I had to have him as I couldn’t bare the thought of where he might end up. So, despite everyone questioning me as to why I’d want such a poor horse, he was mine :D

I’ve owned him nearly a year now. I haven’t achieved as much as I would have liked to due to college, exams, weather etc but now I’m on a gap year, I plan to put a lot of time and effort into continuing to build up his muscle, hopefully have lessons and start getting out and about!

This is him at the weekend. Can you believe it’s the same horse?! Yes there is still room for improvement, particularly his topline but he is so much happier now :D

That's an impressive change!

Also, I was getting ready to be grumpy and say that he wasn't poor, just racing sized, and then saw the photos. Poor chap, he looks so down and out in the first photos :( You got a diamond in the rough that's for sure!

What a handsome chap! The difference is a credit to you - he looks depressed and resigned in the 'before' photos whereas he's got a twinkle in his eye in the recent ones.

Wow, what a difference. How very brave you were to take him on in the condition he was in, he looks absolutely gorgeousknow - a real credit to you. Just goes to show what the attention of someone who knows what they are doing can have as opposed to someone who just thinks they know how to look after a horse but really doesn't have a clue.

Going through a similar thing myself so its great to see someone else who has been through it. He looks amazing and have done a great job on him and should be very proud :D

how lovely! You must feel incredibly proud to see him kicking up his heels in the field and looking so well now - he didnt look as if he had it in him before you bought him. Well done!

Thanks everyone!
Can't quote on my phone but he didn't really have it in him before tobiano - I could barely get more than 3 canter strides out of him, his head would hang low and he just had no energy to do anything. Now he has a bit too much energy! It's great to see though :)

A fantastic transformation. He looks so happy now.

Congratulations on doing such a great job with him. He has landed on his feet that's for sure.:D
