Well... won't recap but most of you know I've had some fun with 'The Boy' lately, he's really settled down, and almost a new horse! now wanting to be led, not leading us everywhere - literally!! Ayway, I've been taking him back to almost basics, alot of ground work, lunging long-lining etc, which he's really enjoying - been ridden a couple o times and again loving doing something - so... last night - I decided to lunge him with a jockey... looked around... nope, wouldn't be right to stick either 10YO daughter or 4YO son on... and then... y eyes lighted on my vely, reluctant, non-horsey 6ft3 huby... aha! thinks moi! So... hat goes on, gloves got squeezed into.. and up goes hubby! Bear in mind his limit is he can change a rug etc... so.. lunged him for 10min, he's got a digustingly natural seat/hands etc, makes me really rather sick :-) then he decides, he wants to go alone! so... I thought, ok... I'll walk with him etc... but no. off he oes - only in walk... lovely lovely circlework, serpentines, FO8's etc, P in a lovely outline, OH loving himself... I fel sick as a parrot! Even in walk it took me a good while to get to the standard he was riding at!! But very proud of both my boys! I suspect he might be wanting to do it again! Will need longer leathers and to swap irons first, but P obviously very proud of taking his Daddy round safely! Even my daughter was stunned!! It usually takes me at the very least a broken bone for him to go to the yard to do anything! Converted? hmm... doubt it - but you never know! Sick to the back teeth of how natural he proved to be :-)

My OH was the same - although he has got sloppy now so he will be in for a lot of shouting once we get him on board his new horse!

Just be pleased, my OH was the opposite, and thought flapping the reins "like they do in the movies" made the horse walk on, in fact he just p'd her off so she stopped!! (luckily she is very good natured) we soon gave up on the idea of him hacking out with me!! lol!! x

My OH doesn’t ride and only gets on for the fun stuff, beach, Somerford park etc.

I have had my mare for 16 years and she has never enjoyed jumping nor was she particularly any good at it, she like to dirty stop and put me over the fence.

We went to the Marbury Farm ride and i rode my big horse that likes jumping and my OH rode my mare who is safe as houses he ended up jumping more than it did and the cheeky mare jumped foot perfect every time.

All i get now is "what is so difficult with this jumping lark i don’t see why you keep falling off"

Oh I was so darn green! The only thing I could see to corect was he turned is toes out a smidgen - but the damn man has the lightest hands I've ever seen, Ped's just rode so up and round and light under him I could have screamed! Really proud of him though both of them - I really did think he'd flap his reins or something, but no... held him together beautifully - sod the Pessoa, use my OH instead to get the correct outline building up lol! I hope the pommel bruises some bits :-P

Oh my gosh, I'm so glad it isn't just me that is having OH envy at the moment!!

I'm quite chuffed just on the fact he comes down the yard and helps (being unhorsey!) but I stupidly suggested he got on the beast..........

Not only did he look like a natural he hardly had any rein contact and the horrid horse worked into the most beautiful outline!! It takes me atleast 15mins of her being a total bag and hanging onto the contact before she even contemplates softening!

Im slightly worried now as he's taking lessons, he's already spouting about how difficult can jumping be and I'm dreading the I can ride your horse better than you line!!!!
