Last night my partner went to see a friend, he left the car outside his house, unlocked, with boxes on the passenger seat but with the dog on the back seat.

When he was inside he heard screaming so he ran outside to find the car door open with somebody reaching inside the car. The person's arm was inside the dog's mouth! He shouted to the dog to let go, which he did & the guy legged it.

He's a rescue dog who spent the first 6 months of his life tied to a tree in somebody's back garden, he's had a few beatings as well. We don't know how he's bred but he looks like he's got husky & german shepherd in him, he's 65 kilos of solid muscle not what I would want chomping down on my arm! He's pure white with blue eyes & looks quite fierce, good to know he can be as scarey as he looks.

He had extra tea last night for being such a good boy.

I'm pleased with him, it's good to know that he will be protective if he has to be, hopefully he did the guy some damage!
God help any burglar who breaks in, my other dog has seen off intruders before so between them I think they'd be a formidable team.
I work for the prison service & recently asked somebody who's broken into many houses about security & he said big dogs are the only things that will put him off.
He also said forget staffys as they're too small & wouldn't scare him off.

Wow, lucky escape for them!

What a good lad, i'd be locking the car from now on though as although he can obviously handle himself :D he is at risk of being taken.

One of mine would do similar i'm sure as he goes mental if anyone even walks past the truck when he's in there, but still, i'd never leave my dogs in a position where they could be taken.

Have you got any photos of him? He sounds fab :)

I'd like to think my fella would be the same, he is fine when visitors come to the door or if he has been introduced to people but there have been a couple of strange men have stopped their cars and asked for directions and I've had to either sit on him or ask them nicely to roll up their windows a bit more or he'd be in on top of them :p
He's fine at club if people he knows lean against the car but if any new people come up to it he gives them a rocket!

Pity about some of the draft amendments to the DDA where someone could theoretically stick their hand through your garden fence, get bitten, and demand action was taken....

In the summer the partner & I went to an airshow for the day, he was the last one out & he didn't shut the front door properly, so the door was open all day, the 2 dogs just lounged around outside on the grass all day!
When we came home one was lying down outside the gate & the other had gone inside to bed.
I asked one of our neighbours what the dogs were doing all day & she said they didn't move from the front of the house, she thought we were in & they were outside in the sun while we were in the house.
Good job we're nice to them as they don't even run away when they've got all day to do a runner!

Mollichop

You are right & I do lock the doors but I didn't know the partner didn't; but I don't think he'd go willingly. He'd put up quite a fight & he's so strong I think he would be very hard to steal.

He doesn't bark but makes a strange howling noise (very similar to Chewbacca from Star Wars) which sounds quite threatening so it would be a brave dog thief that took him!

They'd be welcome to him when he's moulting though!!
