Went on my first lone hack with ny mare today and she was lovely!
Shes been out in company before and does well when led out alone but id never actually got on her and tackled the terrifing road alone!
I work as a live in carer meaning i work a whole 7 days then get 7 off meaning i only see my horse two weeks out of 4 in a month, shes cared for by my partner for my working week. So theres not much time for hacking and when there is everyones at work so its just me and the marey.
Well today we began by walking in hand in our full hi vis, after a quick lap of the block i wandered into my YO garden and hopped on,
After hacking around the garden feeling proud of myself we hacked back to the yard through the roads. It was less than 10 mins roadwork but to me it was a huge achievement. Especially when the cars were playing silly ******s as usual and treating our 30mph horse signed bending road as the fast lane on a motorway.
I dont like mince pies so yule logs for those that get through this!
