Well i've been lunging the horrid one quite a bit lately. I've started to introduce side reins to get him working properly. He didn't like them very much and had quite a big temper tantrum to begin with but he soon settled to wearing them and has started working properly on the lunge (so soon i'll have a proper shaped pony with a neck and bum
).
Anyway today i couldn't lunge him as the other two horses where left loose in the yard so i couldn't get to the school without a potential punch up. So in a moment of madness I decided to tack him up in the field and take him out for a hack
all on our own and the first time we've been off the new yard
The weather is bad here today and it was windy and wet all night which ment Herbs was a bit on edge. He wouldn't stand still to be tacked up but i got the saddle on in the end.
I led him across the garden and out the back gate and on to the track. I didn't get streight on as the horse in the field opposit our gate came cantering over
Herbs was ok though and although he pranced about abit he didn't realy nap to her and he followed me up the track. I led him passed the horse and up the track abit. He was jumping round all the puddles. I desided to get on and he was a little git.
He wouldn't stand still and kept trying to spin round of just walk off before i was in the saddle
and with my hip i can't get on as quick as i used to even though he's only 12.2hh.
I eventualy managed to get on and off we went. Up the track with no thought to napping
We walked passed some builders and at the end of the track we crossed the road and i had to get off to open the gate onto the forest. He was a little git again but i managed to get back on. Just as I got on a car went over the cattle grid by the gate and he jumped a little but wasn't to bad. Then off we set for a little ride in the forest. He was so good. We didn't meet any ponys or cows thankgoodness. We did a small loop round in walk he was alittle on his toes but was a good boy. We got back to the gate and i got off. Loads of cars went over the cattle grid while i opened the gate and Herbs was a star
I jumped everytime one went over but he just stood there
.
I didn't take him back down the track we had come up I took him down the road and he didn't even nap to the track
We met a big lorry on the road and Herbs just walked passed it calmly (I think he's starting to trust me

). Then we got back onto the track that led home and walked down it good as gold. The horse by our back gate came over again and Herbs did have a small nap to her but I just said walk on and he did.

I'm so proud of him. He is coming on so well and the move didn't seem to upset him at all infact he seems to be better than before we moved
Oh well I won't complain whatever it is i'm just so pleased he is settling down and we don't have the huge battles we used to have anymore.
Thanks for reading my selfindulgent and pointless post. Sorry for rambeling on.
But I'm Just so
