very quick question - mirrors for arena (again)

Hi all

My hubby has said I can get mirrors for the arena :D :D

There is an offer on to get 4 x 8'by4' mirrors which I think is what I will go for.

So my question is:

Should I put all 4 mirrors horizontally together in a long line (32' - 10m ish) in the middle of the short side of the arena (the arena is 25m wide so practically covering half of the fencing :))

Or should I put 2 mirrors horizontally in the middle of the short side, then put 2 mirrors vertically on the 3/4 line of the arena on the same short side? :) Or should the vertical mirrors be on the line, not the 3/4 line?

I keep getting different opinions. Most people say horizontally for all and that vertical mirrors can be limited but for those who have them, which do you prefer?

this is for dressage training - I'm not likely to look at myself while jumping :D

I hire two arenas with mirrors. One has them vertically on the long side, you hardly ever see yourself in them. The other one has them along the short side horizontally. If they are the right height I think you get a good view of yourself and the horse, all down the long side, so the second option is what I would do. Not that I have an arena or mirrors but I have spent a lot of time thinking about the flaws in the first one's design :D
 
I like the mirrors vertically at the end of the long side as then I'm able to see that the horse is either straight or on three tracks when shoulders/quarters in.
Mirrors horizontally at A or C are good for checking halts are square if you can't feel it but my preference is for vertical on the long side.
 
I would have put one vertical on end of long side so you can see your lateral work on both reins down the long side then two horizontally together in the middle. Suggest you go and visit a few arenas with mirrors. Have you asked/visited Ds?
 
I either like them on the short side or corner of short and long side (couple on each) does that make sense?

Where a friend goes for lessons to a professional dressage rider, they have mirrors all along short side.

In a 25x40, we have two horizontal at A and then one just off each side of the arena, so that when the arena is marked out as 20x40, you can see yourself.
 
Ps. You can have them angled and tilted so you can see all of horse and what their legs are doing nearly all the way up close to the mirrors :)
 
Your arena us set out the sane as ours.
Forgot to say all ours are horizontal. When they were installed we did it with somebody riding, so they could angle them correctly. Even at the opposite end you can see all if the horse, and up until about 10m away from them you start to lose the lower leg of the horse a little.
I like them being horizontal on the sides as you can see more when leg yielding, shoulder fore/in etc.
