I've had Bear on evening primrose for about a year and his scabby red skin improved to about perfect. Recently, he's gone scabby and red again :frown3: It's been very wet here and he's now going to the woods a lot and getting covered simply by walking down a path. He's getting hosed when he gets home now and towel dried. I've also removed the spoon of bran (anal gland issues :rolleyes3:) All three can be quite obsessive lickers so the helmets are on at night. He's only red on his underside-where the mud goes or he can reach to lick.

Is anyone else's dog allergic to mud/being wet? I think that's what it is. He's raw fed and was fine over summer, same food, just dry walks!

I haven't seen a vet because the issue resolved. I think the next step is a skin scrape to test for allergies. I just find it odd that the onset of wet weather and a return to a muddy environment ie back to the woods (have been doing very flat field walks) have led to a red dog. Poor boy. It's not irritating him, he's not scratching or sore.

Aww poor boy! Yes I think a skin scrape sounds like a good move next tbh.

Is he the Springer in your sig?

Springers often do get funny skin problems. :-(

Yes, youngster in the second pic. The dog he's lying on is known as Dr Brig, another licker who likes to exacerbate minor scratches by obsessing over them. Boy on the right here-all three cut their pads and then lick madly!
