Very sad day, my beautiful mare put to sleep :(

Reading this brought a lump to my throat. So sorry for your loss, she was a gorgeous lady. Rest assured you did the right thing.

It does get easier over time. My sisters horse was pts a few weeks ago with the same problem. She still cries when she sees his tack or moves his rugs but nowadays she is remembering more of the good times.

I have just read your post and seen your beautiful girl in your piccies.

I lost a very precious animal this year as he was so sick I opted to have him euthanased. It was one of the very hardest days of my life. So I feel the pain you suffer, but I can see from your writing that you are very brave and totally selfless.
You will always treasure Fly. She is so beautiful and though it may not seem much of a comfort now, you did the most difficult and loving thing xx
 
What a truly beautiful girl. Very sorry for your loss, you've been utterly selfless in putting her needs first. RIP Fly, heaven's gain.
 
Thank you so much everyone for your thoughts and kind words I will look back at this in weeks to come and remember my girl and all your lovely messages. We miss her terribly, it's so weird having two less feed bowls and an empty stable...and it is so v quiet. We even miss her irritating door banging at 5.30am! x x x
 
Stunning mare and heartbreakingly sad news. Every day that passes is a day closer to losing ours and weighs heavily. These posts make me only too aware it will be my turn again soon
