This morning we had to have our lovely old dobie PTS. she was the sweetest most loving dog you could ever wish to meet.

She came to us aged 8 with wobblers, thyroid problems and deeply depressed. She needed a lot of TLC but turned out to be the most wonderful kind dog I have ever had the pleasure to know. She has had four happy years with us and taught a lot of people how truly lovely dobies can be.

I know it was the right time to let her go but it's still heartbreaking,

RIP my lovely Foxy.

So sorry to hear of your loss.....

Remember the good times and what a lovely life you were able to give her after a rotten start....

I have a good friend who is dying of cancer and they took in to hospital this morning - against her will. I wish that I could give her the dignified ending that you have given your lovely dog.....

It's so nice to give an old dog a home but the down side is you don't have them for long enough. What a lucky girl she was to spend her last few years surrounded by love and comfort

So sorry for your loss, but you were so lucky to have each other for four happy years.
You are right, Dobies are amazing, sadly we lost our first at just 2 years old, we now have a 3 year old, and she certainly keeps us amused.
My thoughts are with you.

((hugs)) sorry to hear that, my thoughts are with you. Just rest assured that you gave her those 4 fab years - I know that doesn't help, and also that is a very good age.

((Lots of Hugs))
Very sorry about your loss, it sounds like you turned an uphappy dog, into a very happy old lady. Sounds like you made gave her a happy and dignified ending.
RIP to her, all my thoughts are with you.

She was lucky to find you.

TOG said this to me on another post recently...
'They don't take the momories with them when they go, they leave them for you'

This has given me some comfort, hope it can do the same for you.

RIP Foxy

Fiona

Oh I am so sorry. Every time I hear this on H&H I have a few tears. God know what Ill be like when my oldie has to be PTS. She looks so much like my old girl. A lovely dog, she was lucky to have you. God bless.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts, I didn't have access to the computer over the weekend so have only just read them.

Even though we still have two dogs the house feels very empty.

We did know when we took her on that the hardest thing would be losing her so soon, she was worth it though.

Sprout how terrible for you to have lost such a young dog, that must have been devastating.

Fiona - that is a lovely thought and very true, I will remember that.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It is heart breaking for you and I know how empty the house must feel. You both sound like lovely "people" and were lucky to find each other.
Big hugs. x
