Just had to take our old lab to the vets when he became unwell after his tea.

Vet suspected twisted gut and was sorry when he was right:(

WE had 2 options, 1 was major surgery that was 50/50 chance of pulling through for a young dog, at 14 years old the kindest thing we could do was to let him go to sleep.

So, Good night Oz, sleep well old man. Matthews going to miss you probably as much as me:(

RIP Oz xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks again. just trying to sort out his cremation now and to find a matching Casket to the one our other old dog has. xx

Aaw so sorry, RIP Oz. You did the right thing, hard as it must have been, we had a young fit GSD operated on for torsion, he made it through the op but died 24 horus later

Sorry, huge hugs. Even if operated on, these things sometimes do re-occur and usually quite quickly so you have no chances left; at least you've saved him from that now which he'd thank you for. Cherish your memories.

And to echo MurphysMinder - even young, very fit dogs fall victim to torsion, so please don't feel bad, you made the right decision.
The top GSD in Ireland died last year from this condition at only five years old, it can happen to any dog at any age x
