I know I haven't been around for a while - things change and I no longer have horses, but I wanted to draw your attention to this article in the Daily Express Today.......
Daily Express - Orphans

The middle son Rory is one of my sons best friends..... if anyone out there can do anything or wishes to donate, it would probably be better to get in contact with the Daily Express directly....

Knowing how we all pulled together in January this year for Operation Esther, gives me hope that there are some forum users who will be touched by this and do what they can.... Thank You.....

Definitely see your point of view and I don't disagree that this specific act cannot be linked to the sport. However, a sport that has as its goal the violent destruction of another life is going to attract individuals who are capable of performing the atrocities reported above. I just wonder when as a society we are going to stop finding killing for the sake of it an acceptable form of entertainment.

That is terrible poor children to have to do this, do you have a contact point at the Express, i don't have much cash spare at the moment but would really like to help them out with the small amount I can spare

I will try and find out a contact for the Daily Express but there is also the option of contacting the undertakers - Anglia Co Op Funerals in Stanground, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, I am sure they will have contact details for the family as well....

Thank you!

Have spoken to Anglia CO OP Funerals and they are no longer instructed to deal with the funeral (given their attitude that is no suprise) However Hereward FM are recieving donations for this and any donations can be sent to:-

For the attention of Kev and Abbey
Hereward FM
PO BOX 225
Queensgate Centre
Peterborough
Cambs
PE1 1XJ

Any donations up and above the cost of the funeral should give the children a stable foundation in this difficult time.

How sad. I can't believe that they've sold their pets though. That's a living animal, not a piece of furniture. Surely a few people would have donated £250 to enable the dogs to have remained with the teenagers?

I hope they found good homes.

Would you?? A little insensitive, Severnmiles, I feel in the circs. These children have just lost their second parent in a short period of time, have been uprooted from their home and must feel absolutely devastated to have to also part with beloved pets (given they have had to move in with their aunts it may be that it would have been impractical to keep the dogs in any case) - surely this decision is a measure of just how desperate they are.

I was about to say I will definitely donate, those poor children need all the help they can get right now. Thank you for bringing it to our attention O.

My Children have Children in Need days tomorrow and we all send money to school and chuck a pound in the box at supermarket... Well these are Children in Need lets send it to them instead !!!!

Oh how dreadfully sad

It really does make you realise just how lucky we are and what rubbish some people are dealt - those poor kids

I hope that they manage to raise enough money - I filled up when I read about them selling their pets - that's awful

Can Social Services not help in any way? I thought there was some kind of benefit available for this sort of thing. I may be wrong. Poor kids.

Social Services are useless, I lost my mother when I was 14, there were 4 kids, between 17 and 2 yrs of age, we had no money for a funeral, we managed to raise some by selling belongings to a house clearence guy, the social then LENT us the rest, we had to pay it back in 12 months.

It is very sad time, luckily they have relatives to help support them, I have sent a donation and wish them all well, it is a very sad time.

I hope that this poor publicity for the funeral company is not forgotten too quickly. They are in an industry which should assist people in moments like this - these poor children have lost their mother - surely they could have made some sort of gesture of goodwill.

I hope that your son does not lose contact with his friend now that he has moved to his auns - the children could do with all the friends they can get right now.

Luckily thanks to the wonders of the world wide web, Rory and my son remain in contact......

As for the Co Op, is it any wonder now a different funeral director was given the work.... Thanks to the kindness of many people, these children can now say goodbye to their mother in a dignified service and also have financial help for when they are older......

I believe the funeral is on Monday in Whittlesey, to which of course, my son is going.

Thanks to everyone who donated......
