very sad

Very sad.

I have 3 (nearly 4) field ornaments... although it means I cannot have a young/fit/healthy horse, I would not have it any other way.

Very sad that more horses aren't promised a home into their old age.

I believe that when a horse becomes old or ill, it is your responsibility to make the correct decisions for it.

They give us our enjoyment (sometimes), they put up with our moods (most of the time) and then we owe it to them to look after them through old age and illness.

Just my thoughts on the subject. Its very sad to wonder what will happen to this horse.

I was simply highlighting the fact that in some unfortunate circumstances that is why you see some old horses being advertised, I am not disagreeing with you or anyone else about acting responsible, the point I was making is people shouldn't be quick to judge or criticise an advertiser when they don't the the know the full facts, hence why I used that as an example.

Yes in the ideal world you should make prior arrangements for the future care of your animals/horses if you were to pass away, but its not an ideal world and not everyone is prepared, specially if loosing someone suddenly not through age or illness etc and saying they don't deserve to have a horse because they have not do so, I think is a little harsh.

I had my old lad pts last year as his time was up, after spending many years in retirement, I would not dreamt of selling him or any old horse on because I didn't want to spend money caring for it, livery fees or vets bills on horse no longer ride able etc so yes I do appreciate everyone's points because I have been through that myself, but I also lost my mother last year very suddenly and understand how difficult it can be to make suitable decisions at a stressful time and that situations change over a length of time....I didn't want to rake up personal things that have happened in my life nor am I drawing out some kind of sympathy card but felt like I needed now explain the reasons why I took a much wider and perhaps a more sensitive view on what can be like I said unfortunate circumstances of why these horses end up for sale and not pts.

Ifonly one person reads this and thinks yeah she actually got a point, and doesn't jump to the same old conclusion the next time someone bares a grudge on someone advertising an old and well cared for veteran, then its worth it me typing such this post and going into it with a little more depth.
