Rio is incredibly scurfy, he came from spain like it and obviously i didnt want to bath him as there was a 20 degree temperature difference when he arrived so it would have been mean of me!

but now every time i ride him or anything really he turns white :o and obviously being a black horse it isnt a good look :o

no matter how much i brush him it keeps coming and he really does need a bath but i cant bring myself to do it as even with warm water he will get cold :( so what can i do?

if its a question of feed then at the moment he is fed twice a day on ->

1 scoop of calm and condition
1 scoop of fast fibre
1 cup of topspec cool balencer
half a scoop of topchop lite (alfalfa, mint and straw)

Taz is probably exactly the same but because hes wishy washy chestnut i dont notice as much :o

its not his rugs either as he has all new rugs and hes currently wearing one that is only 3 days old :)

so any suggestions? or should i just bite the bullet and give him a bath? or would adding oil to his feed help his skin?

thank you!

I think I would be tempted to bathe him just to get on top of the situation, I'm still bathing my sweet itch pony I just sweat scrape him, roughly towel dry the put his towelling hoody on straight afterwards

Adding micronised linseed to his feed would be a good idea maybe

i feel tempted to... i will have to wait for a warmer day and stand him in the sheltered bit with the sun on him :o and wait for him to dry off after a good toweling...maybe i'll bring a hair dryer for his massive mane :o

does micronised linseed give them energy? as i really dont want him having anymore energy hes a bit like an unexploded bomb to ride and occationally handle :o
