Not sure if it's just because spring is around the corner but the horses are being very weird at the moment! Out hacking my mare span and tried to bolt off for no obvious reason. Then child and pony had just gotten into school when pony sat down and rolled which she has never done before luckily the kid jumped off. We think it might be lice making her very itchy but we have been using louse powder, would rolling whilst being ridden be considered dangerous or is it just a one off thing, she is going to have a break from ridden work for a while now. Is anyone else finding their horses are different at the moment?

I was out hacking the other day and my gelding though it would be funny to spin around and go home, I saw nothing that would spook him in to doing that , rather unlikely of him to. Must be something in the air !

Spring grass is what we have at the moment, low generally in Magnesium. Magnitude or some similar Magnesium based calmer can really help.

They aren't turned out on grass at the moment, just the arena and hard standing. It's strange as she is a lazy 21 yr old pony!

lack of turn out especially when combined with spring in the air is a very dangerous thing

We are strictly not allowed to turn them out though, especially after all this rain! The arena is a fair size and they do move about in it, but I feel sorry them anyway.

I just don't get this with yards that just shut there fields the whole country has been in the same situation, I am so glad I have mine at home they would be a complete nightmare to ride without turnout, I know it's not your fault op but I think the pony needs some turnout it makes a huge difference to there behaviour, sometimes a wander around an arena just won't cut it,
