I posted on sunday about my mare having coliced in the morning and about a swelling around her chest and not breathing properly. My vet was baffled by it.
Well we sent her down to Edinburgh to the hospital so they could check her out and i've had awful news back
The swelling on her chest is not an allergic reaction but is possibly because of a tumor. They did a smear test from the fluid they extracted and found abnormal cells but will need to confirm it tomorrow with more tests. They said the tumor may have been caused by pneumonia which can be caught while travelling. A month ago she was sent to Newmarket hospital from Warwick to have her back checked out and it was when she came back that the swelling developed.
If it is a tumor it is in an inoperable position. I really cant believe it. She is only 9years old. So upset
