Very very very very miffed, part 5. Long but worth it!

Just when you thought things couldn't get any more exciting in my life...
A brief summary;
Insane kicking, leg-breaking mare goes for PF. Mummy PF chucks stone at insane mare and misses.
Owner of insane mare hurls profanity and abuse.
Mummy PF, who responds with extreme intolerance to bullying, returns abuse to a lesser degree
Insane horse owner presents very unilateral letter of complaint.
Mummy PF told she no longer has promised grooming job for the time Luis is on holiday.
Mummy PF thinks that considering the kind of abuse/ill-treatment she's likely to get from insane horse owner, this is probably a very good thing.
Mummy PF and PF threatened with very possible eviction.
Mummy PF composes letter of counter complaint.
Insane mare kicks guard in the head, lending weight to insane mare argument (although this may not actually be true)

NOW this is the latest. Fabian has been suspended for 2 days and is being held responsible for insane mare kicking guard (although mare is insane with other horses, not people and the tale the guard is telling is indeed a tall one...)
So, there is no groom at the yard. Doesn't bother me since I got to yard every day and am perfectly capable of looking after my own horses.
Insane horse owner has been persuaded to retract letter of complaint so Mummy PF can look after horses. Frankly, Mummy PF is inclined to tell them all to stuff their job and look after their own horse(s).
C's husband who has been sticking up for Mummy PF asks her to please come and look after the horses. Mummy PF who is soft as marshmallow agrees, but insists she will present letter of counter complaint.
C's husband agrees this is the correct thing to do...

Now THIS is the shocker; Fabian has told me that he's sick to death of all the crap that he's got to deal with and is RESIGNING!!!! I've told C that if he goes I'm going too. She's rather surprised. I explain that he's the only thing holding the yard together and he's the best groom I've ever come across.

Persuade Fabian to stay! He sounds like a groom in a million!

Frankly though, he's right; he gets treated like something everyone trod in because they just don't realise how versatile and hardworking he is; he shoes horses, for instance, but sometimes gets paid weeks late, and he's cheaper than all the other farriers in the area too. AND when the arses have barbies once a month at the stables, they leave all the filth for him and Luis to wash up!! I've persuaded him this month not to do it (and have taken photos, so will show them to the powers that be)
Like I said, if he goes, I go and it'll be a relief!! But I hope he doesn't.

I hope that they realise how indispensible he is during his suspension, and treat him better in future.

If not, I hope he gets a job where he is appriciated, and you find a yard with nicer people on it!
 
Blimey have they all been out in the sun too long???? How can Fabian be held responsible for guard being kicked (if infact he even was)? Hopefully while he's off, they'll realise what they stand to lose, beg him to stay and start appreciating what you guys do. If not, hope you both find a better place.
 
Holy Moly!!! Wow! This is more exciting than any novel! What a bleeding nightmare for you and all the other sane inmates. Will definitely be tuning in for tomorrow's episode.

I wonder if he has another job to go to? You say you'll go with him, but what if he hasn't got somewhere! Mind you, the clearing up after BBQs sounds like taking it much too far, and I don't blame him at all.
As for doing the horses, I think I would be like you. You said the horses can't help who owns them, and you are right.
I await further instalments with bated breath .......

Gosh big hugs to you and PF. If a mad loony mare went to kick my girlie it would get more than a rock launched at it! In fact when my mare got into a spat the lad at the yard threw a feet bucket at them - hit my mare on the arse. All I could do was giggle when he told me

Hope you get it all resolved sooner rather than later - maybe if F did decide to stay he could set some new rules like cash up front prior to shoeing - stop all the pee taking.

Sad thing is, they probably won't at all... until they want their horses backed, shod, etc... he does it all!

They won't get rid of him, unfortunately, because as a home owner there he has right and F and I don't. Even though the head honcho has admitted privately that Stupid Man is a pain in the proverbial and riles everyone up!!
Frankly, the only thing keeping me at that yard is F and to a lesser extent BOF and Antifaz (I can still go and ride him) so if he goes, I'll be quite pleased to follow.

I've told him that he should up his prices and have offered to put up a sign saying cash in advance for shoes. He's agreed but, get this, he has to ask for permission to put the blinking sign up...
Often though feet are left for soooo long that he just goes ahead and shoes horses because they're in such a mess (on one occasion recently a mare's feet had got so long and her heels were so far back over her shoes that her toes went up in the air and she was standing on her heels!! Outrageous!)

That would be the IDEAL situation! I'd love to do that, but haven't got the cash to get started. Have been giving it alot of thought though and there is a yard where he might be able to go in a much more managerial capacity...
 
I think part 4 should have taken place at the bar with a huge bottle of gin/tequila/other potent alcoholic drink!

You'd think if the man is a danger and his horse is too, that they would have some provision for throwing him off in this case. In their shoes I'd have given him written notice that any further incidents and he will be banned from keeping a horse there.

Keeping a known "dangerous" horse on the property that has already kicked a guard in the head, and doing nothing about it, would surely leave them open to being sucessfully sued if anything else happens?

Maybe you could drop that into conversation...

Not many options near where I live, HOWEVER, if F resigns, current yard will disintegrate into horsey hell and I won't stay. I would happily take PF wherever F goes though.
