Please correct me if I'm wrong here, but if you had something stolen, would you be bl**dy angry, when I had my tack stolen from a friends yard where I kept it,and got a call to say there had been a break in and all the tack had gone I was fuming!........Thursday or Friday last week we had a £30,000 horsebox stolen from the front of the yard, and the owners did not even notice untill my friend noticed it!!!!!!!!!!! This is after the red diesel was being stolen(posted last week about this) now I'm worried as a "certain sector of society" show a interest in him(my cob) the yard is very secure with electric gates and people living on site..........but they did not hear the horsebox departing from the front.......and the people who own the box seem very matter of fact about it(no this is no inside job!! it's the way they our!) would be hopping if that had happened to me and if it was my horse.......well I don't know.......how would you react if whatever was stolen!

......and sadly if this happened to you what did you do !

Really wouldn't want to be 'locking' my horse into his stable

What about if you need him out in a hurry

I have a gorgeous cob too and it's my worst nightmare but he is in a secure yard and the gates are locked, he is microchipped and micromarked and I don't know what else I can do. Unfortunately we have the kind of horses certain elements of the public want but you can't spend your whole life worrying about it.

Have eyou got a cummy cctv camera? Other than that I'd be considering moving him for a short while anyway as you know they may be casing the join by being interested in him?
Or pretend he has a hugely infectous disease? (paint him purple??)
Actually, seriously, dye his mane/tail?

Those alarms could easily scare the horse -

Rather than paint him purple put a sign on the barn that says Quarantined Due To Rabies............

LOL

when i rehome dogs that are deemed more nickable, i always advice new owner to have tag made to say I AM DIABETIC/EPHALEPTIC, so putting notices on stable door to state a condition or illness could potentially put people of stealing tham!!!!!! its

worth a try, esp if worried re horses safety.

i had my horsebox (brand new never used or had a horse in it) broken into they broke of the 2 bottem locker which were open anyway (A many thick ppl around). i was ready to kill them and i was like that for 2 day. even if i found out no who it was i would kill them.
I don`t know if you heared about the horse by kirby, merseyside which was robbed for a farm. then tided up in a public park. Then the nxt day a trailer was robbed from a yard 2 miles down the road and was chased by the yard own. He chased then throw the lanes to-wards that park so it looks that they was going to pick then horse up and take it.
found out later that the horse had been getting watched by a man and a woman the day before so i think it was ordered by someone and then stolen to sell to then.
Sorry for writing you a book on it lol

We had the gearbox nicked out of our old lorry. It used to be welded in, but we had to have it un-welded to change the clutch & it was about to be re-welded when it went.

I was really angry & really upset at the thought of these scum taking my property & probably having a good laugh at me while they were doing it. I nearly lost my horse from azoturia & after a long, hard rehab I was about to take her to a little sj comp for her 1st outing...then that happened.

It took 3 months to get a replacement, so having painstakingly rehabbed my mare, I then had to twiddle my thumbs for another 3 months as I didn't want to push my luck by hacking to a show & then expecting her to compete as well.

Obviously, the police weren't even slightly interested, beyond giving us a crime ref for the ins co.

I know how you feel cos I was so utterly furious at them getting away with it, & so upset cos it felt like the final straw after going thru so much with my mare. The worst thing is feeling so helpless.

I opened the top gate to let the hay man in....followed him up the drive & unloaded. After, I invited him in for a drink (it was a hot day) & as we sat in the porch some (insert rude word here) drove out with our caravan

.
We didn't see him drive in & that gate is always kept locked...the hay man had no set dates or times to come....so it was a total chance theft.
Very brazen, or very stupid.
