Was at Balmoral show yesterday and noticed in the petting zoo area that there was a collie pup being passed around, thought it looked very young to be vaccinated and if that was the case it shouldn't have been passed around hundreds of people..
As I looked around the rest of the area I realised that pups sibling was in a large wire cage, hiding in a kennel, with a sign on the door saying their date of birth, which made them just over 6 weeks. I have a photo of this sign along with a pup. Lovely pups, seemed in good form and they were big pups for their age. Set up was clean, they had water, a few toys, clean shavings and a bed full of straw which they played happily in when the two were together (I seen this once out of the 6 times I visited through the day, all other times one of the pups was being passed around). Mum was not present at any time I was, I don't think they had her with her. Seen a man lift a pup out of the pen, it took a helper at least 10 minutes before it was noticed, he could have been away with the pup if he'd had the intention.
Very tempted to report but I don't know whether they've done anything wrong and whether the animal rescue organisation which has the power here in NI would have any interest (I doubt they would). Do you think there's any point in reporting?
Just felt very bad for these scared babies.
