For my vet to come out to me and confirm all infection had cleared from a hoof abscess that one of his vets had missed, no medication etc has just cost me £45.

So is this about right on average with everybody else, how much do you pay just for your vet to come out and look at your horse?

Thats pretty reasonable.

My call out is £33 plus £2 per minute vet time or consultation fee of £32 under 15 mins.

Sounds about right to me. Cant remember my last solo call out so to speak but recently had annual jabs done on a shared call out basis and it still cost me £68.

Had an after hours call out last year (not late vet arrived about 6pm) and that cost £70 before any examination/medication.

Our vets do free call outs to our area on a Thursday (so they can group calls) so my horses jab cost just £35! I think alot of vets are starting to do the free call out thing so it is worth looking around or even suggesting it to them!!!:)

with my vet you pay a call out fee plus consultation fee plus travel on top of that. i think the last time they came it was just over £100. before any treatment. when you get a booster done it just the same. my vet also charges for each form they complete for an insurance claim. if they have to complete more than one the charges are £20 1st form £15. 2nd form then £10 for each form after that.so even getting your insurance claim dealt with costs you money. its all got so insurance driven that they now charge what they want.
in my next life im gonna be a vet!!!!!!!!
