Vet Check?

Please could someone explain what a "Vet Check" of a puppy involves.

When a pup is sold as "vet checked" what does it mean? Does it indicate a certain standard of health? soundness? etc.

It means the puppy has been seen by a vet.
It does not mean any health testing has been done.
It should mean the puppy has been checked for deformities, had it's heart listened to, condition checked -the same as when a puppy goes for it's first vaccination.

Health tested is different.
If you go to the breed clubs there will be a list of required and preferred health tests for each breed but just because tests have been done doesn't mean the dog passed!

Just to add: A puppy farm about fifty miles from here sells all their puppies as vet checked -they have had the first vaccination but I think the check may comprise looking and checking it is a puppy & not a calf!
I have seen twisted jaws, mismatched limbs, a lop-sided chest and missing toes. The latter may not sound like much of a problem but when the main pad of the foot is also split the dog is in for a lifetime of problems.
