Hi,
Does any one know if you can get free veterinary testing treatment for sarciods ? I have paid for another horse a few years ago for a lot of treatments which had got me into a financial debt as I would try anything like any horsey women would. I had some of them removed and after a while as you know Insurance will not pay so i carried on with the treatment but they just got worse resulting in the horse having to be put to sleep. I have now got my young horse with the same problem but at the moment is not aggressive at this time how over this is causing a problem with his eye watering all the time. I have put him on a feed product which is natural and seems to help as one did fall off however the other has not. The vet has said that Liverpool can not give the cream to this area as it is too near the eye and he would need the injections treatment which will be over £4000. I can simply cannot afford to do that. Has any body any suggestions?
I'm thinking along the lines of free clinical trials but I'm open to any other suggestions.
Thanks.

What a difficult position to be in!

I am not aware of anything but I think you need to somehow access specialists. Do Liverpool have any suggestions? If I were you I would e-mail all the sarcoid specialist vets I could track down and ask for help, someone may be able to give you a lead to a clinical trial. Try also using Google Scholar and similar search engines to track down vets doing research in this area.

Sorry just to ask the obvious: I take it something simple like banding is not appropriate in this case?

Hi, my horse had massive wart like sarcroid on her face i used collidal silver cream!!! fell off and never come back!!! the natural way is the best and worth a try!! wild garlic oil is very good for the immune system a few drops in a bucket water will help but make sure is also has access to fresh water so she has a choice which she wants to drink!!! must be wild garlic oil not any powder!!! Krissey a lady whom has helped me will advise you on natural remodies she is fab!! tel 07900863504 give her a call she will be happy to advise you!!! good luck hun xxx

I think liverpool are at the point where they just use their clinical/paying animals for their numbers/add to their experience base. It does sound like injections will be the only option though I would suggest it is worth checking with liverpool re the cost. Is the horse insured or not?

A horse of mine had a course of 6 bcg injections into a sarcoid by his eye (along with Liverpool cream on several others)
The cost was no where near £4000, can't remember exact but think it was in the region of £1000 for all the treatments. The eye sarcoid responded well, but sadly lost the horse 12 months later, so can't comment if the result lasts.

hi ,ya i had tried some homeopathic for over 6 months now it hasnt seem to do anything, which did you us?

Have you tried Homeopathics for them I have a mare who had a Sarcoid just above her eye and using Homeopathic I got rid of it.

so to hear that the things we do for are horses. it was the vet said it would cost that so not sure why so much then really.thanks for your help

no not at all!! mine always have a bucket of garlic oil if they choose to drink it they must need it, my old horse had a virous last year and has taken all summer to regain the weight, i started using the garlic oil 2 months ago and my old horse tends to drink it so does the other horse whom had a sarcroid the others don t seem to touch it!! just remember to make sure they have plain water too!! also it is very strong powerful garlic hence why it has to be diluted 10 drops in plenty to 1 bucket water xx

he is insured but dont want to go down that rout again as i did with my other and they dont insure again for that.

If he's insured for vets fees and he needs this treatment then use your insurance, that's what it's there for. If you have your vet treat the sarcoids but don't claim then you will almost certainly have to disclose the sarcoids and treatment to your insurance company when your policy renews and and any future treatment for sarcoids will be excluded anyway, as it was a pre-existing condition.

What Buddy's mum just said.

1) Inform insurance co. if you haven't already
2) get photos sent to liverpool and get a quote for treatment
3) decide how to proceed.
