After finding a new sarcoid on Chico on Monday my world collapsed a little :(

Today the vet came out and the news is better than expected.

This was the offending sarcoid, that appeared in a couple of weeks at the site of a previously treated verrucous sarcoid. Vet informed me it was a nodular sarcoid, a type he has never had before.

Vet sedated Chico and then removed the sarcoid by squeezing it and it just popped out. It was like a big broad bean, solid and a pale pinky colour. The site bled for a few minutes.

Vet applied Bloodroot ointment to the site and the bleeding stopped.

I have to apply the cream for another 3 days, then 4 days off, then another 4 days of application.

I hope hope hope it works, so worried that it will respond badly and erupt again, so fingers crossed everyone!

The vet could apply Liverpool cream which is very effective IME. Is bloodroot the same? If it popped out, thinking of a horse I know, it is hopefully, fingers crossed, not going to come back. Think positive! Just keep a very close eye on it.

My horse had a sarcoid which popped out as the vet banded it! Bled a fair bit and left a hole in her skin but that healed up eventualy and the sarcoid hasnt returned yet.

Fingers crossed yours doesnt op

Fantasic news hope it all goes well. I did an extra careful check of Fatty after your last thread Thankfully nothing.

Haven't used or heard of bloodroot but use a powder that stops bleeding v.effectively on my Chinese Cresteds nails when the quick is caught. I will have to find some of this bloodroot ointment now, as it sounds like good stuff. Chin up, everything will be ok I'm sure

Bought a new horse 2 months ago. He is fantastic in every way. Just found a sarcoid between his thighs-it's hard to see. On the blood root front, have used it on melanomas on my grey. Cant believe how well it worked.
