Hi All,

I came across this website http://www.vethelpdirect.com/index.php

"Worried about your horse, dog, cat or rabbit? Unsure if you need to call the vet?

Vet Help Direct helps you decide; it is an interactive website designed and run by qualified vets (Members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons - MRCVS).

By following a series of simple, step-by-step questions about your pet's symptoms, Vet Help Direct will offer you clear, professional guidance regarding how quickly you should contact your vet and will give you tailor made first aid advice."

Basic stuff - just wondered what people think of it?

I just went through the series of questions. They need a minimum of £8 and will contact the e-mail addy you have typed in. TBH you can phone your vet in any circumstance 24/7 for free. This is not a web for free

I have to say if I thought one of my animals needed the vet and I wasn't sure, I'd ring my vet, run the symptoms by him and see if he thought he should see them then or wait and see!

It seems to offer basic "first aid" information for common symptoms - most of the advice is to contact your vet. I couldn't see anywhere about the £8 and email address???

ps - I think if most people had a problem with a horse they wouldn't find a computer and go to a web site! Yep, hopefully they'd phone a vet - although sadly when it comes to £££ sometimes people foolishly delay calling the vet - even though basic advice is often freely offered. This website may be more useful for the "smaller" pets. I'm still confused by the £8 minimum charge - can't find it anywhere. This site seems to be about giving basic advice and when to call the vet.

Ah ha - the problem is solved! justanswer.com isn't anything to do with vets direct which is a free website and doesn't take any money. justanswer.com ocassionally pops up in the "google ads" area.

All the same not much use to anyone at the stables unless they have a Blackberry! (don't ask - only joking!)...
