Not really CR but you are a sensible. Looking for a new vet for various reasons (one being being charged £25 for duct tape!). I use Andrew Mcdermott over in Lanark for big things but looking for someone closer for vaccinations etc. Looking for sensible and sane vet as i really have had bad practice from last lot!
Thank you!

I always used Chris from Ian Butts practice in loanhead/gorebridge area, great vet always has the time to answer questions and is always there on the end of the phone if you need him, also very good with nervous horses

I use Colin Tait from Equitait, he is excellent. He is in East Lothian a couple of days a week for any routine visits & does a discount call out charge. All my bills have been fraction of the price of another local East Lothian vet beginning with a L! ;) He is very knowledgable & takes time to listen, also rides himself & was a vet at the Olympics! :D I have had a few emergency call out to, once being in a Saturday night & he was with me almost as I hung up.

For cheap routine (vaccinations) Bush are fine. Arrived bang on time and cheaper than others. For something more serious then Ian Butt is good but want give you a time ('afternoon' isn't really helpful). Make and Breaching are seriously expensive.

Applestroodle sounds good. Have heard others using him so might go down that route and if he is local in theory the call out should be cheaper ;)? I genuinely don't know who you mean with the "l" vets really not up to speed on local vets!
Kallibear its the bush i won't use. Don't have a good word to say about them! Have heard mixed reviews on Butts and having a time is helpful!
Thanks all

Vets school has a first opinion service

Some more will come to me I'm sure!

Rcvs website lists vets in the area.

Now this intrigues me, my OH is an Edinburgh Uni employee and never realised there was a 10% discount. My cats are registered there before you ask or is it just equine?

I'm an Edi Uni employee and believe it to be all animals small or large that you can get discount on. You need o show staff id card to get discount not sure you need to show anything else, Uni website will tell you more.

We use Ian Butts for the ponies, have done since my sister got her mare 13 years ago.

We also have the cats registered with them.

There are a number of vets at the practise and they are all good
