Tawny's sister belongs to my brother. My SIL is the sort of person that if you ask anything you are suggesting a weakness in the family and will get shitty, so I am stuckfor further info!
Apparently the dog has fibrosis in her hips? Google is no help. What is fibrosis of the hip? What causes it? She is having hydrotherapy on the insurance so it is obviously a thing. Anyone know anything about it?

Sorry to hear about this, could you ask your own vet as a general query, maybe just to ask whether it's genetic or something and that way get more information? SIL can't deny something is wrong as no insurance company would pay unless they have too

It sounds to me like she is trying to avoid saying hip dysplasia, given the breed and hydrotherapy treatment.
Inflammation will lead to the formation of fibrous tissue in an attempt to stabilise the joint.

I asked outright if it was hip dysplasia and wasn’t really given an answer. Very sad if it is. She has done a lot of flyball which I always wondered if it was suitable for a big dog and she’s very fat (now, she wasn’t while competing).
Thank you for your reply, I think it must be.

They are naturally short fat labs, cobs rather than racehorses and I suppose as she is on lead walks only and they’ve always fed them the bag recommendation she is now piling it on.
