Vet recommendation Doncaster

If you're having x-rays it may be worth seeing if the seller would transport the horse to the vets of your choice, you generally get 'better' quality xrays in a clinic setting plus the guarantee of good surfaces (hard and soft) to examine the horse from a lameness perspective.
Rainbow (Malton) would be easy enough to get to from Doncaster and have a good reputation.

Yep its one on the list. Thank you.

I'll have a think about what you've said. I had a PPE and xrays a fortnight ago on another horse and portable xray images were very clear. I walked/sprinted away from that one.

I believe Hirds have a clinic near Rotherham so would be worth an ask (think they’ve actually bought Speetley but as far as I know they’ve not moved in there yet)

Rainbow struggled to fit me in for a vetting in a location closer to where they’re based in a reasonable timeframe but I could just have hit upon an unlucky week / I had a tight time limit due to seller losing grazing and needing vetting done within a week of viewing to make timings fit. Obviously they’d have all the kit to do very good X-rays for you and have some very experienced vets

There’s also The Equine Veterinary Centre based at Moorhouse Equestrian Centre but I’d say Hirds would be my choice of the two for a vetting

Ridings equine may also cover depending on where in Doncaster (don’t think they cover all parts) and have a good mobile service. (You’d probs want Adam or Katie ideally)

I used Baker McVeigh & Abbot for my vetting in East Yorks about 4 months ago as they were literally the only practice vaguely nearby who could fit me in within timeframe I needed and they appear to cover Doncaster. They gave me a good, professional service with good communication throughout (Will caveat that I only had a 2 stage due to age of horse and didn’t have imaging done but they do appear to offer this)

Thank you. It's a bad week really as I'm working at the yard today and Wednesday as I pencilled myself in 2 weeks ago. Then there's NY day on Thursday. I really wanted to be at the vetting but if I plump for Friday I suppose it gives me the weekend.

I'm hoping they can fit me in this week, I can hardly go back to work next week after a two week break on what will be my 6th week there and ask for a half day off. Although I'm tempted....🫤

Could you request half a day off your annual leave? At least that way it won't look grabby and as though you are looking for freebies at this early stage of your employment with them?

Managed to get Malton out this week. Thank you for your suggestions. It was too short notice for most but Malton came up trumps.

🤞🤞
